Computer scientists have researched relational database query languages for more than a decade, but a spatial query language for GISs has different requirements. As distributed applications proliferate on the Internet and World Wide Web, GISs ranging from corporate information systems to spatially enabled applications have become mainstream. The Web’s heterogeneous environment requires that query mechanisms be both softwareand hardware-neutral. This creates a need for spatial query mechanisms that are distributed and open. The results of a GIS query can contain both geographic and attribute data. This data may be physically separated, possibly residing in different database management systems on different machines. User-selected data can be rendered either as tables (attribute data) or images (geographic data). Query processing for spatial and nonspatial data differ fundamentally. A relational DBMS organizes information in abstract name spaces and lets users refer to the data through their values, while a spatial DBMS organizes information in concrete 2D geometric spaces and lets users designate spatial relationships to retrieve data. A simple example, “Find all farms adjacent to Kruger Park,” illustrates how spatial queries rely on implicit information: “Adjacent” is not a stored attribute or relation but an implicit result of spatial analysis. Query expansion based on relevance feedback and latent semantic analysis
Web search engines are one of the most popular tools on the Internet which are widely-used by expert and novice users. Constructing an adequate query which represents the best specification of users’ information need to the search engine is an important concern of web users. Query expansion is a way to reduce this concern and increase user satisfaction. In this paper, a new method of query expa...
متن کاملAnalysis of users’ query reformulation behavior in Web with regard to Wholis-tic/analytic cognitive styles, Web experience, and search task type
Background and Aim: The basic aim of the present study is to investigate users’ query reformulation behavior with regard to wholistic-analytic cognitive styles, search task type, and experience variables in using the Web. Method: This study is an applied research using survey method. A total of 321 search queries were submitted by 44 users. Data collection tools were Riding’s Cognitive Style A...
متن کاملمدل جدیدی برای جستجوی عبارت بر اساس کمینه جابهجایی وزندار
Finding high-quality web pages is one of the most important tasks of search engines. The relevance between the documents found and the query searched depends on the user observation and increases the complexity of ranking algorithms. The other issue is that users often explore just the first 10 to 20 results while millions of pages related to a query may exist. So search engines have to use sui...
متن کاملQuery Architecture Expansion in Web Using Fuzzy Multi Domain Ontology
Due to the increasing web, there are many challenges to establish a general framework for data mining and retrieving structured data from the Web. Creating an ontology is a step towards solving this problem. The ontology raises the main entity and the concept of any data in data mining. In this paper, we tried to propose a method for applying the "meaning" of the search system, But the problem ...
متن کاملRRLUFF: Ranking function based on Reinforcement Learning using User Feedback and Web Document Features
Principal aim of a search engine is to provide the sorted results according to user’s requirements. To achieve this aim, it employs ranking methods to rank the web documents based on their significance and relevance to user query. The novelty of this paper is to provide user feedback-based ranking algorithm using reinforcement learning. The proposed algorithm is called RRLUFF, in which the rank...
